Suffolk - Linda Overman Carr, 68, went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2018. She was born in Suffolk, VA the daughter of the late Josiah Ephriam Overman and Margaret Brinkley Overman. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Overman Hodge. Linda was a graduate of Suffolk High School and Pan American Business College. She was employed at Sentara Obici Hospital for 48 years where she loved her job and the people dearly. She was an active member of Holy Neck Christian Church and the Discovery Sunday School Class. She served on various committees to include Christian World Missions, Board of Finance, Teller, Outreach, Pot Luck and was a former leader of the Youth Group. She loved the Lord and enjoyed Bible studies. Linda was also a member of the Holy Neck Ruritan Club, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the Holland Athletic Association and Lakeland Booster Club. Most important in her life, Linda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Clifton Morgan Carr; daughter and son-in-law, Natalie Ann Carr Friedman and Jeremy Friedman; son and daughter-in-law, Clifton Nathan Carr and Allison Carr; grandchildren, John Baldwin, Timothy Baldwin, Clifton Andrew Carr, Justin David Carr, Kayla Hope Carr, and Morgan James Friedman; sister, Judith O. Hamilton; nephews, Michael and Marty and niece Crystal Hamilton; and numerous nieces and nephews on the Carr side. She joyfully loved being with all of her family especially her children and grandchildren. Linda spent her life serving and helping others, always bringing joy to those around her. A funeral service will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Holy Neck Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Dave Meadors and Chaplain William Morris officiating. The burial will be held at 3 p.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory. Of Volunteer Services, Debbie Williams, 2800 Godwin Boulevard, Suffolk, VA 23434 with the words "In memory of Linda Carr" in the memo line.
