Suffolk - Earl C. Hunt, Sr. 87, passed away peacefully February 9, 2018 after a courageous 14 year battle with Multiple Myloma. Earl was the son of the late Georgia Reed and Emmitt Howell. Earl was one of 9 children. He was also preceeded in death by his first wife, Geraldine.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years, Mary Elizabeth and their 6 children, Suzanne Wilson (Joe), Joyce Hunt (Greg), Theresa Shampoe (Jim), Earl Hunt, Jr. (Rosemarie), Geretta McClave, Otto Hunt (Tanya). He leaves 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren that he adored.

Earl retired in 1968 as a Master Chief after 20 years of service in the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, he worked for C & P Telephone Co. for 20 years. While working for C & P Telephone Co., he met the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth and they raised 6 children. Earl was an active member of the Holland Ruritan Club. He later transferred to Liberty Springs Ruritan Club. Earl loved God and was a member and Honorary Deacon at Southside Baptist Church. Earl loved the great outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Earl cherished his time in the VA Mountains with his hunting buddies and family. Earl was a loving and devoted husband and father. Earl never met a stranger. Everyone that met Earl will never forget his stories.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. Burial will full military honors will follow at Cypress Chapel Christian Church Cemetery.
