Carrollton Ruritan Club Beneficiary of Special Help

Our Carrollton Ruritan Club has been a beneficiary of special help with a ladder truck to install a parking lot light – thanks to the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department and especially Patrick Deshield.  We are also beneficiaries of some very nice well padded hand-me-down chairs we received earlier this year from your Carrollton VFD.   Our relationship with the C VFD goes back to their founding a few decades ago with help form our Ruritan Club.

This was a spectacular help -- to have the use of the ladder truck and versatile skills of Patrick – operator, electrical-mechanical DIY guy, and (almost an oops) cool in close proximity to nesting wasps.  They had to be evicted from inside the old 175 watt mercury light that we replaced today with the new small 70 watt LED fixture.  The new light does the same lighting of the driveway and part of the parking lot with 40% of the power.  The old fixture had darkened to almost no light output after more than 20 years of use -- finally died completely.

THANKS to Patrick and the Carrollton VFD for the installation today of a new LED parking lot light on our old wood electrical pole.  It looks very good this evening --- its first night of operation.

We appreciate, too, that Albert suggested this solution of the ladder truck AND Patrick.  Patrick has special skills and helpful spirit.  The roughly 30 foot height up the pole looked easy and not so high with the big ladder truck. It had looked pretty intimidating when we were considering how/if to climb an extension ladder against the old round pole without your help.
