Clarke Andrew Wiseman II, 65, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, in his home. Clarke graduated from Oscar Smith High School in 1967 and attended the University of Richmond, where he played basketball. He retired from Deep Creek High School after more than a decade as an English teacher and was the music director at Portlock United Methodist Church at the time of his death. He was predeceased by his father, the Rev. Clarke A. Wiseman. Clarke's first love was music, and he found joy in sharing his talent with others as a music and choir director at churches across Hampton Roads. When he wasn't writing lyrics, Clark enjoyed reading and slipping away to the ocean, his very favorite place. He leaves behind his mother Grace R. Wiseman of Suffolk, daughter Claire L. Wiseman, of St. Petersburg, FL, aunts Frances Copper and Nell Robinson, uncle Eddie Wiseman, and many cousins. A funeral service by the Rev. Bob Robinson will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 West Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434, with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
