Chesapeake - "Buddy"/"Pappy" Powers was born in Camden County, NC, on June 1, 1936, to Floyd and Pauline Powers. Buddy was a retired ironworker of Local Union#79, an avid NASCAR/Redskin fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Loretta Butt; and son, Calvin "Bo" Powers.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Cathy S. Powers; daughter and husband Rhonda/Herb Porter; grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Amber, and Oxmar; sisters, Carolyn/Charles Belcher, Joan Mosely; brother-in-law, Elmer "Beans" Butt; special cousin, "Red" Swain; and an abundance of family and friends that he loved, including the staff at CRMC's Lifestyle Center, and a special K-9, "Lil Man."

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at South Mills Church of Christ, Camden County, NC, at 2:00pm, reception to follow the service. Burial will be private at Albert G. Horton Veterans Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Mills Church of Christ Building Fund.
