Continental food items will be available for purchase prior to the service. President Larry Cassell will preside at the first business session. The Fellowship and DRM Luncheon featuring Sam Venable, a comedic entertainer, humor columnist, and author will follow the business meeting. (You will want to wear your Ruritan apparel.) The afternoon will include voting and workshops for training. A highlight of the afternoon will be a special area called Main Street featuring merchants from the Kingsport area, health screenings, and demonstrations. Everyone will then be ready for two special events, the Foundation Auction and Ruritan Square. Beginning at 8 p.m., you will enjoy Ruritan Square, a giant tail gate party featuring your favorite foods such as hot dogs, sandwiches, chips and dip, popcorn, s’mores, cookies, candy (to include bourbon ball, fudge, and Ohio buckeyes), pepperoni rolls, BBQ sliders, nachos, brownies, and assorted beverages. There will be competitions such as horse racing and a scooter parade. Wear your favorite college or NFL team colors. You will not want to miss this event featuring food, fun, and fellowship.
Saturday will begin with a breakfast honoring First Lady Nelda Cassell. Nelda’s emphasis has been adoption awareness. Shannon Shepherd will share her adoption experiences and Jaime Fox, a singer and songwriter from Nashville, will provide the entertainment. The second business session will follow. Afternoon workshops will be provided. There will also be some free time to get out and enjoy the Kingsport area. Come back rested and ready for our annual installation banquet honoring our new national officers, directors, and trustees. Kathy Martin and the Hot Rods, a Delaware band, will provide a musical journey through rock and roll and soul music as the evening’s entertainment.
